Working Floors for a Working Village
Epoxy flooring in Lordstown covers two very different kinds of floor. One is the home shop on a rural lot, where a pickup, a tractor and a welder share the same slab. The other is the commercial or industrial floor in a building that runs shifts. Lordstown has both, and we coat both.
Mostly rural, mostly room to spread out
Lordstown is a village and paper township in southern Trumbull County, and it covers about 23 square miles. The 2020 census counted 3,332 people, and 85.6% of residents live in areas the Census classifies as rural. That shows up in the buildings. Detached shops, pole barns with poured floors, oversized garages and outbuildings are common here. Those slabs see diesel, hydraulic fluid, grease and road salt from equipment that never fits in a normal two-car garage.
For those floors we usually recommend:
- Commercial and industrial floor epoxy in heavy-use shops, built thicker and with grit where people walk
- Epoxy flake floors for a home shop that doubles as a hangout space
- Concrete crack and floor repair for slabs that were poured on fill and have settled at the edges
- Polyaspartic floor coating when the shop cannot be out of service for long
An industrial town since 1966
General Motors built compact cars at Lordstown Assembly from 1966 to 2019, and after Youngstown's steel mills closed it became the Mahoning Valley's largest industrial employer. Foxconn bought the plant in May 2022. The Ultium Cells battery plant, a GM and LG venture, began production in August 2022. A TJX HomeGoods distribution center and several smaller manufacturers also operate in the village. Industrial buildings need floors that resist chemicals, take forklift traffic and can be cleaned fast. For a commercial job we walk the floor with you, look at traffic lanes, drains and existing coatings, and write a scope that fits how the space is used.
Prep matters more on shop slabs
Oil that has soaked into concrete for years will keep a coating from bonding. On older shop floors we degrease, grind down to clean concrete and test spots that still look dark. Expansion joints and saw cuts get filled or honored depending on how the slab moves. That prep is most of what makes a shop floor last.
Shop drains, heat and timing
Many rural shops have a trench or floor drain and a heater hung from the ceiling. Drains need a clean edge so the coating does not lift where water runs. Heat helps in colder months, because coatings need the slab warm enough to cure. If your shop is heated, we can often work outside the usual spring to fall window. We check the slab temperature on install day, not just the air.
Getting a price
We price each floor after we measure it and see its condition. Big rural shops and commercial spaces vary a lot, so a written estimate is the only real number. Call (330) 366-9901 or

Lordstown Questions
Can you coat a pole barn or detached shop floor in Lordstown?
If it has a poured concrete slab in sound condition, yes. We check for cracks, oil saturation and moisture first. Gravel or dirt floors cannot be coated. Very large shops are often done in sections so you can keep working in part of the building.
Will an epoxy floor hold up to a tractor or skid steer?
A thick commercial-grade system on a properly ground slab handles heavy equipment much better than a thin garage kit. Steel tracks, chains and dropped implements can still gouge any coating. We will talk through what runs on the floor and spec the build to match.
Do you coat commercial floors as well as home garages?
Yes. We install commercial and industrial floor epoxy for shops, warehouses and service bays. We will need to know what chemicals touch the floor, how it is cleaned and whether forklifts run on it before we recommend a system.
